PEPA is continuing to advocate for fair, science-based building codes that protect market access for polymeric exterior products.
On July 7, PEPA submitted a formal opposition letter to the Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners in Colorado, urging officials to reconsider proposed building code provisions that would prohibit vinyl and other polymer-based windows and fencing.
Led by PEPA President & CEO Kate Offringa and VP of Government Affairs & Advocacy Alex Fernandez, the letter explains that the county's proposed restrictions conflict with the 2025 Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code, which allows polymeric materials based on their proven fire performance.
PEPA is encouraging the county to adopt a performance-based approach consistent with state standards and will continue working with local officials to ensure decisions are grounded in science and data.
