The VSI Product Certification Program is an independent, third-party certification Program with Intertek the ISO/IEC 17065 accredited certification body. Approved products are authorized to utilize the program’s certification mark. End-users can feel comfortable and confident when specifying or purchasing certified product because the VSI Certification Mark confirms that the product meets industry standards.

Each VSI deliverable is issued with VSI’s Certification Mark; this mark represents to code officials and others in the industry that the covered product(s) meet the relevant code requirements through comprehensive testing, review of quality control procedures, evaluation and ongoing verification of product compliance.

A Certification Mark, or Mark of Conformity, reflects acceptance of a product that has been verified for compliance. VSI’s Certification Mark is an example of a mark of conformity.

This is a published authoritative document which compiles relevant code information into a comprehensive technical report to convey how a product(s) complies with recognized standards and requirements of building codes.

These listings are published authoritative documents declaring that a product(s) complies with recognized standard(s).

PERs can be acquired to prove to building officials that the certified product(s) contained within meet the relevant codes. The report can provide verification of product code compliance to audiences such as designers, specifiers, architects, engineers and contractors. PERs can be an asset for code officials to assist with decision making of product approval and/or systems. PERs identify the critical elements of the construction needed to meet the requirements of the code.

After a listing and report is published, they are renewed on an annual basis to ensure content remains accurate. In addition, semi-annual plant inspections are conducted each year, and samples of certified products are selected for testing by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing laboratory. This ensures that products are being continually verified through an established quality control program, and thus continue to comply with the requirements of the standards.

To provide proof of product compliance with standards recognized in the VSI Product Certification Program.

The development process of a PER includes utilizing a professionally licensed Intertek engineer who is separated from the product testing process. This separation ensures that the evaluation of the certification data is independent and impartial.
